Panel: Engaging the Student Voice in Our ‘New Normal’

How are universities planning to capture, and act upon, feedback from students in 2020-21?

The unprecedented challenges around Covid-19 have led to major disruption for the Higher Education sector worldwide. The initial shift to online teaching from March 2020 raised serious questions around how the student voice can be captured effectively (for module evaluation and beyond), especially given the sector’s reliance on traditional approaches. For many, this brings obvious challenges in terms of student satisfaction and engagement. Whatever the delivery mode, institutions need to ensure quality of provision and that this is continually informed by the student voice. At this session we will reflect on the points raised in the eBook and share best practices from the sector.

Closing the Feedback Loop

Getting Started Using HTML Emails to Improve Your Response Rates

Closing the Feedback Loop

Student feedback can drive the improvement of teaching and learning. To do so we talk of ‘closing the loop’. Institutions often assume that applying the evaluation results to define or refine strategic improvement plans accomplishes that. However, the loop begins with students and so ‘closing the loop’ should end where it began: reporting the results of course evaluations to the students. This workshop will provide hands on experience of how to implement ‘closing the feedback loop’ reports, as part of the continuous cycle of teaching and learning process improvement. Specifically, it will demonstrate how this process can be implemented with the help of Blue.

Getting Started Using HTML Emails to Improve Your Response Rates

Are your email communications to students and faculty in plain text? Would you like to spice things up and make your emails stand out? Join this session to learn how to leverage Blue’s built-in WYSIWYG editor to add colors, images, and flavor to your emails, and for some best practices in design to maximize the impact of your communications.

Tips and Tricks for Making Blue Work More Efficiently for You

Using Dynamic Report Access for Hierarchical Report Distribution

Dynamic Report Access (DRA) is a powerful and dynamic way to allow academic leaders access to their reports. DRA synchronizes the organizational hierarchy with Blue, eliminating the countless hours it takes to change each report owner individually. Access to potentially thousands of reports can be updated automatically as the organizational hierarchy changes.

Tips and Tricks for Making Blue Work More Efficiently for You

There are several built-in features in Blue that can help you set up and run your projects and extract response data. Are you using an optimal format for setting up your questionnaire content and behavior? Are you using available management tools to verify and extract data, and to help you monitor and improve your project’s progress? Learn how you can make Blue work better for you.

Panel: Module Evaluation in a National Lockdown

What do students really think of universities’ approaches to gathering their views on teaching and learning?

Following on from our eBook, “Engaging the student voice in our ‘new normal’: How are universities planning to capture, and act upon, feedback from students in 2020-21?”, which we published in November 2020, we are undertaking research amongst students’ union representatives with responsibility for the student voice about their views on the course/module evaluation and feedback process, how it is working generally and how student voice is being captured and responded to during the first semester of 2020-21 (in the context of Covid), and what universities need to do differently going forward. At this session we will share exclusively, and for the first time, the findings from our insight with students’ union teams in the UK and Ireland.
